iPad 2 on Sale March 11 – ATT & Verizon, 2 Cameras & 1080p HDMI Output!

iPad 2 Smart Cover
I’m pretty happy! The past week I was thinking the iPad 2 wouldn’t be that much better since it wasn’t getting the retina display. Well, that’s about the only thing missing and I’m sure will be part of iPad 3. First, iPad 2 will be available of March 11. My wait is almost over. It will be the same price as last year in the same sizes (16GB, 32GB & 64GB) and will be available for both Verizon and ATT. Apple claims the new processor is twice as fast as the one in the original iPad while graphics processing is up to nice times faster. The iPad 2 is 33% thinner than the original iPad (even thinner than an iPhone 4) and weighs less. It will come in both black and white which I’ve learned is a big deal for a lot of you out there. The iPad 2 will have both a front and rear facing cameras and gyroscope. While the iPad 2 will not have a retina display it will have a HDMI video out. With purchase of a $39 cable this will allow you play 1080p HD videos on your TV! Another new accessory for the iPad 2 is a smart cover. This auto wakes your device, can be used as a stand and cleans it. The cover bends and attaches with use of magnets. This can’t be good news for companies than make cases. The smart cover comes in polyurethane for $39 or leather for $69. As far as apps the iPad 2 will have iMovie and GarageBand each for $4.99. Surprisingly Apple didn’t mention the amount of RAM. Given the faster speeds, I’m pretty sure they had to double it 512MB. As far as stats, Apple sold 15 million iPads in the first nine months. iBooks has over 100 million downloads.

So, I’ll be in line at the Apple Store at 5:00 PM on Friday March 11. It appears Apple will not allow pre-orders untile March 11 so best to get your sleeping bags ready. I’ll have a video of my new toy shortly after. So what do you think? Gonna sell your iPad on Ebay and get an iPad 2? Will this be your first iPad or are you gonna wait for the retina display??

iPhone4idiots App Review – Five Little Monkeys

Five Little Monkeys
Oceanhouse Media’s, Five Little Monkeys $0.99, tells the story every parent knows of monkey’s jumping on the bed. Before kids I’d never heard this story, but it is a hugely popular story and song for toddlers aged one to four. Like every Oceanhouse Media storybook I’ve seen the art and sounds are top notch. The app contains three modes: Read to Me, Read It Myself and Auto Play and words zoom up and are spoken when tapped. This is all pretty standard. This is a really fun story to read with toddlers. At $0.99 you might want to download for bedtime.
