MegaUpload Down For Many – DNS Seizure?

For me something was up with MegaUpload Sunday night. While I could connect and start a download, the speed would quickly drop until it finally stopped just a minute into the process. Monday morning I got many emails about Megaupload not working and searching Twitter for “megaupload” listed thousands of people worldwide asking if the website was down. Some said they couldn’t connect at all, other’s said the downloads wouldn’t start and still others stated there was an error 1003. Well, the problem is with the DNS and the domain registrar. Here is the problem and workaround. Continue Reading…

Greenpois0n Not Coming Soon

Chronic Dev Team member Joshua Hill (aka @p0sixninja) updated the Greenpois0n.com website this evening for the first time in months. For those hoping for an untethered jailbreak for iOS 5 and the iPhone 4S it is a sad read. The bottom line. They still have much work to do and I’d be surprised if we see a new Greeenpois0n jailbreak this year. Continue Reading…

Collecting Toys

Let’s just say the Walmart in Nashville on Black Friday opening (Thusday 10:00 PM) was much scarier than anything I saw on Halloween. I went in through a back door and got to the XBox line at 9:59. “Sold Out we only had 16.” Well that sucked. So I went to get a few $5 footballs. Feeling closterfobic I called my wife for advice. “Look for a professional and ask them.” To the left was a mom and daughter with the cart filled. I asked and they told me exactly where to go. Items in hand I went and got in line. Every aisle in the Walmart was full. Checking out took forever. Continue Reading…

Netflix Just Be Smart Like Redbox

I wan’t going to blog this morning but after dropping my friend off at the Nashville airport I headed to Walgreens for the Thanksgiving paper. Am I along in thinking one of the best things about major holiday’s is the lack of traffic? BTW, Happy Turkey Day to all. What did I get with my paper but a free Redbox movie code. Good only today. But what better day for a Dad than today. Stuck at home all day with little to do until the 5:00 meal. Yes, we eat kind of later than most. This DVD will be great after breakfast, indoor football and Spades (I think indoor hockey is more fun). Anyway, it made me wonder why Redbox is so smart and Netflix so dumb? Continue Reading…

Blackberry Playbook > Amazon Kindle Fire

The iPad isn’t for everyone. It may be out of your price range or you may not want to give such an expensive device to your friend or child. With that in mind I’ve spent 6 hours over the past two days at Best Buy playing with 7 inch tablets. While I spent a little time with the Acer Iconia, the vast majority of this time was spent on the Amazon Kindle Fire and Blackberry Playbook both of which cost $199. If you are thinking of getting Kindle Fire do yourself or your friend a favor and DON’T. Continue Reading…

What Tech Toys I’m Buying on Black Friday

Usually only my wife is crazy enough to wake early on Black Friday and hunt for deals. However, I have some extra cash and am going to treat myself this year. BTW, if you didn’t already know, Black Friday is really Thursday night as most major retailers (Best Buy, Target, Toys R Us, Walmart) are opening on Thanksgiving night. So where can you score some great deals? I’ll tell you what I’m planning on getting. Continue Reading…

Download Torrents to Your iPhone, iPad or iPod

I think some of you are going to like this. Ever had a movie, TV show, exercise video or anything else for which you couldn’t find a MegaUpload or FileServe link. Torrents are great option for getting these files on your iPhone, iPad or iPod. It’s actually quite easy to do as the video shows. The only catch, like many cool things you must be jailbroken as Apple will not approve any torrent downloading app for the App Store. Cydia to the rescue! For the links and step by step just hit continue reading after watching the video.

Greenpois0n iOS 5 Untethered Jailbreak Ready?

See this tweet yesterday from Justin Williams. @JayWalker9988 is a member of the Chronic Dev Team which created the popular jailbreak tool Greenpois0n. The tweet implies that Greenpois0n has been “updated” for a iOS 5 Untethered Jailbreak and a public release might be very soon. Could we see it before Thanksgiving? As always, no one other than a limited number of developers knows for sure. However, I’ve been asked at least half a dozen times this past week about when the iOS 5 untethered jailbreak is going to be released. So this is latest on Greenpois0n. Of course, an untethered iOS 5 version of redsn0w might come anytime now as well. I for one can’t wait.

Kindle Fire & Nook Tablet – More iPod Than iPad

Amazon Kindle Fire
Stop it. Why does everyone have this wrong but me?? Usually when I ask myself this question it’s because I’m being an idiot and I’ve got it messed up. However, I’m not so sure about this one. Every article I can find about the Amazon Kindle Fire and Barnes and Nobel Nook Tablet are comparing them to the iPad 2? They are nothing like the the iPad 2 and will have minimal impact on iPad 2 sales. Completely different products. As far as Apple is concerned the device they are in competition with is the iPod Touch. Yes, I know the display is much smaller, but not really much more than Kindle Fire or Nook Tablet is compared to the iPad 2.  Let’s take a closer look. Continue Reading…

iOS 5 Hidden Autocorrect Keyboard – How to Enable It

A second hidden feature in iOS 5 was discovered yesterday by Sonny Dickson. Unlike the panorama feature for which there are apps that do a better job this is one you might want to use. It takes about 2 minutes to enable with iFile, but if you aren’t jailbroken you can turn it on in about ten minutes after downloading iBackupBot. Watch the video to see if you want this feature. If yes, click continue reading for the simple step by step guide.
