Twitter Updates iOS App Removing Landscape View #Fail

I just don’t understand tech companies sometimes. Twitter just updated its iOS App and there are two major problems. The first and biggest is it no longer supports landscape viewing? Why would they remove this feature. I use it all the time. Landscape view makes the tweet stream easier to read in many situations and I used it daily. Removing features that your customers like and are used to is a big mistake. Not Netflix screw up big, but pretty big. The other problem is the bottom tab now labeled Discover. This was where you could quickly look at Top Ten trending topics which is one of the best things about Twitter. It’s how you can see what’s hot right now. As you can see in the photo, the trends are now displayed under Stories. Frankly I don’t care about the Angels, Ice Cube or Eddy Curry. I want to see the Top Ten trends and then pick which interest me. That now takes a swipe down and extra tap to accomplish. Twitter now only displays two trends. Sorry, I don’t count the promoted trend. That’s not what’s in the news, it’s just what’s paid for. Nice job Twitter, I might now offically move to Tweetbot.

iPhone4idiots App Review – Zombieville USA 2

Zombieville
Zombieville USA 2, Mika Mobile, Inc. $0.99, has been my favorite game to play ever since Halloween. Yes, I even like it better than Infinity Blade 2. I don’t see myself getting too bored with this game as I just started playing over Bluetooth with my 7 year old which makes it even more fun. The game is simple. Choose a character and three weapons and start killing zombies. For me the animation in the game is perfect. Fun looking zombies that explode in blood when killed. IMO, the gore is fine for children because it’s more cartoon like than real. There is not an option to turn the blood and gore off which might be nice for some people. Gameplay is simple with a directional pad on the bottom left corner to more your character and three buttons on the right to fire one of your weapons. Continue Reading…

Installing Siri on iPhone 4, iPod Touch – H1Siri

The most coveted feature on an iPhone 4 or iPod right now is Siri. Apple won’t put it on anything other than the iPhone 4S. Siri is cool and I would definitely use the dictation feature. I bet my wife doesn’t even use Siri in the 4S I gave her. Grr. The first tweak that attempted this called Siri0us appeared a little over a week ago. It only offered the dictation part of Siri and after about 48 hours was pulled from Cydia due to licensing issues. See, Siri dictation connects to Naunce voice recognition servers. No agreement with Naunce and no service. Two nights ago a group out of China released H1Siri which was a full port of Siri to the iPhone 4 and iPod Touch 4. There was a YouTube video showing that it worked. However, within hours it quickly stopped working. You could install Siri but not connect to the network. Again, server problems. Apple’s servers authenticate Siri in some way and I’ve read the iPhone 4S gets a new serial key for Siri every 24 hours. Apple can easily block the proxy servers faking this iPhone 4S key that makes Siri work. That’s a bummer. I can deal with my “personal” data going through a Chinese server as long as Siri works. I’m not paranoid. I’m sure those running the server are gonna spend a lot less time looking at my data than Facebook and Google do.

So I wasted a day chasing after Siri. It was worth it. It’s only a matter of time, before someone figures out a way around Apple. I think it might happen right around the time of the untethered jailbreak.

Infinity Blade 2 Set to Break iOS Gaming Sales Record

Just released Infinity Blade 2, Chair Entertainment Group LLC $6.99, will set new sales records for an iOS game. I’m thinking $5 million the first week, but we shall see. Honestly, I rarely played Infinity Blade which price has dropped to $5.99 as I don’t really like this type of game. However, I can appreciate how nicely it has been done. It’s just gorgeous. Watch this video to see how the game starts, looks and feels. I was playing while watching Dexter. It was holding my interest as its a bad season IMO with no great villain. Anyway, I ramble as its over an hour past midnight and I have to be up early. I’m sure there are thousands of mostly under 40 males playing this well into the night. I also seeing numerous tweets about it in Japanese. I never stood a chance at making Gamecenter leaderboard.
