Two weeks in and Kim Dotcom’s Mega announced a CEO and that they had 2.5 million registered users. That number is smaller than I would have guessed given MegaUpload had 18 million. That said, as you can see in the logo Dotcom is calling this a privacy company. As far as piracy, Mega quickly pulled down the first linking site that I found. Dotcom keeps tweeting that it’s not fair YouTube has full length movies and are not taking them down. If Mega truly is a privacy company then they’ll never get anywhere near as big as they once were. Frankly, DropBox seems safer. While Mega’s speed is great, if you aren’t uploading and downloading large video files it’s not that big a deal.
