So when I saw this app and then looked at the dozen or more mosquito bites on my wife’s legs I thought, awesome, she’s gonna love me. Then I thought a little more and wondered how the small speakers on the iPhone were going to put out an audio signal with enough quality to keep mosquitos away? But hey, I’m an idiot who didn’t even know you could keep mosquitos away with sound so I thought I’d give it a try. Nevertheless, I was skeptical to say the least. My wife has tried everything including citronella braclets around her ankles. Well, other than staying inside or taking a bath in deet, the mosquitos eat her up within minutes. So how did it do? When people ask me why I love my iPhone so much its because of apps like At Bat 2009. It’s the kind of app that makes you dream about the future of the iPhone and what you’ll be doing in 10 years. At Bat 2009 allows you to listen to any MLB broadcast. Whether you prefer Harry Kalas (the Phillies), Vin Scully (the Dodgers) or Michael Kay (the hated/beloved Yankees) you can listen to them live. Better yet, while listening you have access to stats, pitch-by-pitch stats and video clips for the game. Still even better, each day two games are streamed live to your iPhone! This app is pure quality. Continue Reading…
Milton Bradley’s classic game on your iPhone! I’m biased as this was one of my favorite board games growing up. I think mainly because who didn’t love spinning that wheel? While spinning the wheel on your iPhone by swiping your finger isn’t as much fun, the game does convert nicely to the iPhone. But hey, its EA and as you’ve probably gathered I’m a big fan of almost all their games. Continue Reading…
So running apps in the background is a feature that everyone wants on their iPhone. Well, jailbroken devices can install Backgrounder via Cydia to do just that. If you are playing a game such as The Game of Life (seen here on the left with review coming tomorrow) and need to check a text or get a phone call the app closes. Sure it saves your place in the game, but you have to reboot the app which takes 20 seconds or more for apps like Tiger Woods golf. With Backgrounder, when you touch the icon it opens in a two seconds or less and you are playing again. Continue Reading…
Run, walk, or jog your way to better health! The Pedometer application attempts to help you lose weight and stay healthy as it tracks your steps, distance traveled, and calories burned – all conveniently from your iPhone. The settings screen pictured here on the left has an adjustable sensitivity which allows for accuracy whether walking, jogging, or running. I didn’t play with this setting much as I’m not serious about running so I can’t comment on how accurate the sensitivity might be. I don’t run except when I’m chasing the kids! You can see there are multiple position settings ensure that your steps are counted whether you carry your iPhone in your pocket, belt, on your arm, or in your hand! Continue Reading…
iTunes 9 is coming out soon guys. The big rumored additions are a visual organizer for iPhone apps and support for Blu Ray! By support for Blu Ray I’m thinking they mean you can put your Blu Ray disk into your PC or Mac and import into iTunes 9. Then you sync to you iPhone and you’ve got them there. I believe Blu Ray uses video files with extension of .mk2v so I’m not sure how it would all work. Anyway, it can only be a good thing for getting higher quality videos on you computer and Apple device. The organizer is long overdue. I guess they’ll integrate Spotlight better between iTunes and your device. Spotlight on your iPhone is OK, but it would be better if it were more like Quickgold. You need to visually see the icons you use most often below the searchbox. It can’t be that hard to do, but maybe that’s just a pet peeve of mine? Well, its hot today. Been to pool already and having mom over for her B-Day party. Be well and changes and contest coming this week! Tweet ya later
Everybody loves talking about the weather, right? Well, WeatherBug Elite makes sure you’ll know what you are talking about. Whether you hike, bike, fish, boat on the lake, play golf or any other outdoor activity, launch the app on your iPhone and check out the radar to see how close that storm is from your location. For me, the radar is the key feature on the app. Where is the storm relative to my location? Is it going to mess up my plans? You can’t find the answer with Apple’s native weather icon. With this app you have your answer in less than 10 seconds. Continue Reading…
By far the best golf app out there! Yes, its pricy for an app at $6.99 (down from $9.99) but it is worth it. The game play is intuitive and graphics are great. The only downside, no online play?? Come on EA – an online Leaderboard would be huge. Imagine the bragging rights! Check out this iPhone app review that includes a YouTube video of me dominating two holes. Continue Reading…
Loan Calculator Pro costs $0.99 and does a good job of instantly showing you the loan payment. Keep track of mortgage payments, credit card payments or student loans. You specify amount, length and interest rate of the loan and the app instantly shows the payment. A quick tab over allows you to see the schedule of payments. Another tab allows you to save or email your information. It’s a very easy way to keep track or calculate mortgages or student loans, but you can get this for free at many websites so I really can’t recommend it, but hey its less than a buck. Check out the one minute video below on it.
Want to see better app reviews?? Well, I’m getting a new camcorder very soon so request some cool app you want to see like Tiger Woods PGA Tour or whatever.
OK, since very few people watched last weeks app review and no one has requested a new app to be reviewed for the iPhone I thought I’d show you guys a website not too many know about that gives away a lot of FREE stuff. Swagbucks.com is a search engine that essentially pays you to use it by giving you swagbucks (money that you use to buy things in their store). Swagbucks uses google and ask.com for their searches so you are getting a good search engine. Every so often you receive a few bucks for using it. They also hide codes on their site that earns you a few swagbucks. Their Facebook page which you easily find by clicking on it from swagbucks.com home page is probably the best way to get up to speed. Any question you have is answered in less than 15 minutes. Lastly, the best way to earn a lot of swagbucks is by referring other people because you get a match on the first 100 swagbucks they earn. So check out my video on it and please use this link to sign up and try it out. Click Here to start winning with Swagucks
At the end of the video there is a gift card code for $5 at Amazon.com. The gift card code is AC8W-LLM54B-M5CZ
Please add a comment to this posting if you use the code so the next person that tries it doesn’t email me that it doesn’t work. It will only work for the first person who tries it. Assuming this person posts that they used the code and it worked, I’ll send a $5 Starbucks gift card to the next person that post “Dang, I just missed it.” after that.
Remember to make requests for TV Shows, Movies or app reviews in the Forum and tell your friends about this website!!
