MegaUpload Shut Down By FBI

MegaUpload has been shut down by federal prosecutors in Virginia. The site’s founder Kim Dotcom and three others were arrested by the police in New Zealand on request of US authorities. MegaVideo, the streaming site belonging to the same company and 16 other domains connected to the Mega company were seized as well. An indictment unsealed today by the department of justice claims MegaUpload has caused the entertainment industries more than $500 million in lost revenue. Not sure what this means going forward. Mr. Dotcom just weeks ago claimed to be operating within the law and has a tons of money and lawyers to fight. Given the Pirate Bay website still runs today I think MegaUpload will come back online in the future. In the meantime other storage locker websites like RapidShare, FileServe, WUpload and others will benefit.

MegaUpload Down For Many – DNS Seizure?

For me something was up with MegaUpload Sunday night. While I could connect and start a download, the speed would quickly drop until it finally stopped just a minute into the process. Monday morning I got many emails about Megaupload not working and searching Twitter for “megaupload” listed thousands of people worldwide asking if the website was down. Some said they couldn’t connect at all, other’s said the downloads wouldn’t start and still others stated there was an error 1003. Well, the problem is with the DNS and the domain registrar. Here is the problem and workaround. Continue Reading…

Netflix Just Be Smart Like Redbox

I wan’t going to blog this morning but after dropping my friend off at the Nashville airport I headed to Walgreens for the Thanksgiving paper. Am I along in thinking one of the best things about major holiday’s is the lack of traffic? BTW, Happy Turkey Day to all. What did I get with my paper but a free Redbox movie code. Good only today. But what better day for a Dad than today. Stuck at home all day with little to do until the 5:00 meal. Yes, we eat kind of later than most. This DVD will be great after breakfast, indoor football and Spades (I think indoor hockey is more fun). Anyway, it made me wonder why Redbox is so smart and Netflix so dumb? Continue Reading…

MegaUpload FileServe & Customer is Always Right

Why is it so much harder to download direct to an iPhone or iPod? I’ve tried more than half a dozen apps (Safari Download Manger, Downloads, Downloads Manager, OPlayer, ByteTornado and more) and none will work with FileServe or WUpload. Using an iPad or Mac doesn’t present any issues. While I know this has been frustrating for many of you, trust me, it’s been more so for me. So what to do about it? See one big problem with MegaUpload is you never know when a link dies. FileServe lets you know immediately so you can fix the issue as opposed to wait for it to be reported. Like all similar sites, customer service at MegaUpload and FileServe doesn’t really exist. Due to the request of two “made” users, nmarino1002 and Emdaddy, I’m going back to MegaUpload for 99% of links (as opposed to the 50/50 split for the past two months). I’ve already switched the links for the new seasons of True Blood and Weeds to MegaUpload because they are very popular. Seems that’s what most people want and the customer is always right? Why Not to Use BitTorrent

When it comes to downloading music or movies BitTorrent sites have been the most popular way to get content for years. All you needed was some free download software like BitTorrent or UTorrent and then websites like The Pirage Bay, Torrent Funk, VCDQ, btjunkie or dozens of similar sites made searching for and downloading movies simple. However, things have changed over the past few years and IMO they shouldn’t be used. Storage sites like MegaUpload and FileServe are just as easy to use and and you don’t have to have the download software to boot. They now have just as big a selection with new movies being posted just as quickly as torrent websites. About the only drawback I can think of is if your interent connection gets stopped during the download you have to start over. With torrent software it just picks back up at the point the connection was lost. Thus, if you were 95% through a download you don’t have to start over. This can be a big deal if you are downloading HD movies or full seasons of some TV shows that go over 10GB. More importantly, at least for the time being, storage sites are much safter to use as only bittorrent site users are getting sued! Continue Reading…

YouTube Renting Movies

Google announced today that YouTube will start offering movie rentals. They are starting with 3000 movies that you can see here. While this idea seems logical enough I feel they are much better served trying to make their own movies. Why be the middleman when you can cut them out of the loop. The thing that makes YouTube great are its stars like Ray William Johnson, Nigahiga and many more. This why YouTube gets 2 billion views everyday (well that and cat videos). The problem is the average person spends just 15 minutes per day on YouTube. Don’t get me wrong. I love YouTube. It’s great for skits under 10 minutes and people doing things you won’t see or can’t do on television. That’s where they should remain focused and are doing a great job in training and paying their biggest stars to produce more and higher quality content. Continue Reading…

How to Download Direct to Your iPad

So one question that keeps coming up in the Forum is, “How do I download direct to my iPad?” Well karma points to user louholmes for pointing out that Downloads Lite for iPad does it quite well. Yes, it’s free and this works for files on FileServe as well. So if you’ve been asking how to do this just watch the video.

New Movie Monday

So we added My Teacher’s Wife for AbhiSingh, In Too Deep for pundakilla and The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lava Girl for flipskaterdude. New episodes of Mad Men, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Entourage, etc. will be up in the next 24 hours. Check your requests in the Forum as well as some links are posted directly there.

Latest mp4 Movies & TV shows

Hope everyone is well. Added Face Off for calebcj85, Fast Times at Ridgemont High for 115sm2330, The Boondock Saints, The Goods: Live Hard Sell Hard and ET. On TV shows we started adding Reaper and Mad Men. Finales of True Blood and Hung should be up very soon along with Entourage. I also posted a number of links in the Forum so check there to see if your request has been met. Also, consider adding to your profile please. Most of the Forum links are through linkbucks which is slightly annoying but many uploaders use it to make a little extra cash. Hope you all appreciate that we only link directly to megaupload (no spam) and only to mp4 files.

mp4 Requests – Labor Day Edition

Hey, I just got back from three days at Lake Lanier so haven’t gotten as many requests as would have liked. Kids had a blast so it was well worth it. Anyway, for movies added Spirited Away for Chris and Fair Game for vterra09. I also added better quality mp4 files for Halloween 2 and Ice Age 3. As far as TV shows, I’ve been adding Chuck for Nori and Flipping Out for capricious86 (hope you burn a few extra calories). I also got Sons of Anarchy up to date for Kodi. There was no new HBO last night and most the season finales are this week (anyone looking forward to True Blood?).

Keep posting in Forum and buildout your profiles please. How bout some suggestions for a new poll??? Happy Labor Day!
