iOS 4.1 Exploit Found – Jailbreak Sooner vs. Later!!

Awesome news. The same day iOS 4.1 is released @pod2g finds an exploit that will allow it to be jailbroken in near future! Others in the dev team have confirmed it works not only for the iPhone and iPad, but also the just released iPod Touch 4th generation. What’s even better is the exploit is based on hardware so Apple won’t be able to patch it with a future software update. Now there is still tons of work that needs to be done and it may still take over a month, but rest assured a iOS 4.1 jailbreak looks to be coming sooner rather than later!! I can’t wait to get my proximity sensor fixed and have Game Center on my iPhone 4.

Off to World Cup in South Africa

I’m off to South Africa for the World Cup. GO USA!!!! While I’m gone there likely will not be any new Movie or TV show links added. Feel free to post links in the Forum if you have them, but Requests will not be answered by me until I’m back at the end of June. Sorry, that means you’ll have to wait for The Last Song, Toy Story 3, Sex and the City 2 AND new episodes of True Blood, the Secret Life of the American Teenager etc. You can find these lots of other places just not usually in mp4. So if you can’t wait just grab them elsewhere, but please come back at the end of June as things will be back to normal. I will be posting some videos of my travels so check them out on the YouTube channel.

How to Unrar files for Mac & PC

Thought I’d make a guide about unraring files since some people aren’t sure how to do it. It’s really simple and there is also a step by step video at the end of the guide. To see how to convert files to mp4 see our guide here. So rar files are a way to breakup another file into smaller parts. For example, instead of finding a single link avi movie file that is usually 700 MB you might find seven 100 MB rar links. First, if you are on a PC (Mac guide is just below PC) you will need to download WinRAR here. As you can see its been downloaded over 92 million times. It’s safe and easy to use. Once you’ve installed WinRAR go ahead and make two folders on your desktop and call them rared and unrared. Download all your rar files into the folder titled “rared”. Once they are all in there open WinRAR and select the rared folder. Next, click “extract to” in the top bar and navigate and point the folder on your desktop titled unrared. Hit OK, wait 20 seconds for WinRAR to do its thing and the you should find the avi file in the unrared folder. See video for example. If you are on a Mac its even easier. Macs have UnRarX installed on them so just double click the file with the extension .rar within your rared folder. Twenty seconds later your .avi file will appear in the rared folder. Quick App Review – AC Milan

A. C. Milan, $4.99, keeps you updated with official news from the club. I’ve mentioned before that I’m a big soccer fan so I thought I’d check out this app since this large Italian soccer team has my favorite US player on it, Oguchi Onyewu. What better way to keep track of how he’s doing? Well, the app is hugely disappointing. Milan deserve a red card for this one. First, the news tab is fine, but really contains nothing different than what you would find on the home page of their website. The video tab is even worse. First each video is labeled movie 1, movie 2, etc. so you have no idea what you are about to watch. Second, all the videos are in Italian. I know, its an Italian team so this shouldn’t be a surprise, but there is no value in it for me. Most of the videos are post game commentary as well – not even highlights. I thought there would be the goals from the last game at a minimum. But no. There is a gallery tab with pictures from recent games and a silly tab that lets you put team jersey’s on your pictures. How this app is $4.99 is beyond me as I’m not even sure I would use it even if it were free. Milan needs to stick to soccer and leave the apps to someone else.

Movie Monday/TV show Tuesday

Two requested movies this week, The Bachelor (1999) and Katt Williams American Hustle. New episodes of The Simpsons, Family Guy, Curb, Bored to Death, Entourage, Drop Dead Diva, Dexter, Mad Men and Californication. Finishing up Nip Tuck and Six Feet Under soon. Spent a lot of time on Dexter The Game app review (hoped you liked it) and on Friday night getting MMS working and writing about it. Tell me what you liked or what you want to see more of. Anybody using MMS or tethering? Send me a tweet or come post in Forum. Working on VERY COOL app review for next Thursday!

Apple’s ‘It’s only rock and roll’ event took place last Wednesday, with new products and software updates. Despite my laziness I wanted to post a small recap on the event. So, what’s new?

iTunes 9: updated iTunes Store, better sharing and sync, managing apps, iTunes LP, new genius features iTunes 9
iPhone OS 3.1: Genius recommendations, organize Apps, better sync, video features, etc… iPhone OS 3.1
iPod touch: price drop, updated gpu, new disk size iPod Touch
iPod nano: video camera, FM radio with live pause, larger screen, new colors iPod nano
iPod Shuffle: new colors, price drop, new special edition iPod shuffle

iTunes 9 rumors – App Organizer & Blu Ray

iTunes 9 is coming out soon guys. The big rumored additions are a visual organizer for iPhone apps and support for Blu Ray! By support for Blu Ray I’m thinking they mean you can put your Blu Ray disk into your PC or Mac and import into iTunes 9. Then you sync to you iPhone and you’ve got them there. I believe Blu Ray uses video files with extension of .mk2v so I’m not sure how it would all work. Anyway, it can only be a good thing for getting higher quality videos on you computer and Apple device. The organizer is long overdue. I guess they’ll integrate Spotlight better between iTunes and your device. Spotlight on your iPhone is OK, but it would be better if it were more like Quickgold. You need to visually see the icons you use most often below the searchbox. It can’t be that hard to do, but maybe that’s just a pet peeve of mine? Well, its hot today.
